Contact with Robert Reich

Dear Dr. Reich:

In full disclosure, I have not seen your new film, but I plan to watch it tomorrow.

It appears from the work I see you doing through the years that you are promoting a kind of state-centric forced collectivism upon society in order to counter the presumed development of a plutocracy.  While I do recognize that monopolistic dynamics do appear in the current state conception of life, F. A. Hayek insists that these monopolistic dynamics, and logically, any possible plutocracy that follows, are formed first in advanced economies.  As you know, this suggests that the monopolistic dynamic is formed by collusive contracts and public policy, according to Hayek.

I suggest that you examine a new rail of possibilities to the Western mind:  the Tolstoyan-Gandhian rail.  The future will, it seems, end up in some form of collectivism over the longterm, as the human population does not seem destined to lower itself to sustainable levels in the near future.  However, I suggest that the Gandhian path of education by those possessing social capital alone be used to solve our problems, that this is the moral and most efficient path forward.

Forced collectivism is destined to cause wars, so abolishing the ten planks of "The Communist Manifesto" seem to me to be the best path to creating a peaceful and sustainable world.

The main problem I see is the central bank's ability to expand the money supply, used to inflate the stock market, etc., and benefit agendas for politicians.  I am inspired, of course, by Milton Friedman's "Money Mischief."

Another problem I see is that the three primary dynamics of slavery in antiquity (taxation of labor, taxation of the intrinsic value of property and numbering people as cattle) are being examined in the sociological fields to possibly impose a sociological retardation upon the culture.  My exchange with Dr. Cornel West last year suggests this.

Your thoughts are most welcomed.

Most respectfully,

Gene Chapman,
