A Talk With Michael Badnarik, 2004 LP Presidential Nominee

I spent about an hour talking to Michael Badnarik this afternoon, and we covered a lot of ground, as he waited for his ride to get surgery on his shoulder in Ft. Worth this evening.  We both decided that we join paths near the place of miniarchism these days.  I am a fan of Gandhiji's "village republic" concept wherein about 200 or 300 locals would get together with no force of law to make decisions on how to handle street repair, trash pickup, etc., while Badnarik's view is that you never get pure anarchism, so you settle for the smallest possible government.

We agree that Lee Wrights is a purist libertarian, like myself, and that we will both represent LP ideas in their purest form.

We discussed his conclusion that the LP is "a lost cause," as Republicans (national socialists/ fascists) creep in and walk away with the party every time there is one of them with a little notoriety and what might be done to mitigate this issue.  I shared how I see Kathie Glass as a Republican and that I think we purists simply have to educate the masses as we go.

I think the LP has a future, if we open up to Cubans in Little Havana, who know the ravages of Marxism under Fidel Castro and to the Gandhians and Tolstoyan Christians, as well as the American Indians, who have been disenfranchised by the Republican and Democratic parties.  I think we have a good shot with the youth of America, as they continue to be enslaved by the Marxists of both major parties in Washington, D. C. with higher debts and Obamacare, etc.
